Welcome to We Out Here 2024, an introduction to this year’s musical offering.

We Out Here prides itself on highlighting musical legends, showcasing new talent from all over the world and giving full genres a platform to be explored. Last year we celebrated 50-years of hip hop, the music and the culture, and what a celebration it was, this year we’ve been working to top that. We are over the moon to have secured André 3000 and Sampha as two of our headliners. Neither of these artists need any introduction, but we can’t stop ourselves giving them a little one anyway.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest artists of all time, and one half of Outkast, Atlanta born and raised André 3000 is also a highly respected singer, musician, songwriter, record producer, and actor. Luckily this Grammy award winning artist has made a little time for us at We Out Here this summer. We catch him basking in the, rightful, glory, of his 2023 debut studio album, New Blue Sun, a fully instrumental work showcasing his skills on the flute. Truly not one to be missed.

Singer, keyboardist and producer Sampha hails from closer to home, South London, and has racked up a formidable bank of releases and collaborations over his career. Considered one of the UKs most enigmatic artists, the Mercury Prize winner has worked with Solange, Kanye West, FKA twigs, Drake and many more. We consider ourselves honoured to have him at We Out Here.

Closing the main stage across the weekend we also have some incredible live performances from the hugely talented Floating Points, Ron Trent, Louie Vega & The Elements of Life and The Cavemen.

On any day of the festival, you’ll be able to check out stone cold legends, such as Dee De Bridgewater, Ebo Taylor, Asha Puthli or Brian Jackson. If you are on the hunt for jazz then look no further, we have Irreversible Entanglements, Corto Alto, Mansur Brown and Cassie Kinoshi, amongst many more. Feeling in a reggae mood then how about Johnny Clarke, Dennis Bovell and Abs shanti-I, or if you’d like your spirit smoothed out, and who doesn’t, we’d recommend Matthew Halsall, Aja Monet, André 3000 or the Ancient Infinity Orchestra. Plenty of hip hop for the heads again this year, with CASISDEAD, Bahamadia, Obongjayar and loads more. Musical heavyweights from home, KaeTempest, Mount Kimbie and Joy Orbison, and from further afield, Lonnie Holley, Sanam and Nana Benz Du Togo. These are, of course, only a snippet of what’s in store.

Whilst we have loved all previous editions of We Out Here, every year we strive to improve on the year before, to give our attendees the best festival experience we possibly can. One point we took on board in feedback is that some people found there was almost too much music to enjoy (this is what we call a good problem) and this led to clashes which, we realise, could be a little frustrating. To counteract this, we have introduced staggered performance times on our two live stages, the Main Stage and Lush Life, so with seven live bands a day per stage you can, if you wish, catch a whopping 14 amazing live acts each day. See, no need to stress, we got you. You can catch Midlife and not have to worry about missing Matthew Halsall, or if your mates want to check out Bahamadia you can hang with them and feel safe in the knowledge you won’t miss The Cavemen. We take your feedback very seriously and if there is something we can change, or tweak, to make We Out Here even better, we’ll do it. Take a look at our Lush Life and Main Stage Day-By-Day Breakdowns below…

As we gear up for 2024, our second We Out Here in our new home, here at HQ we’ve been mulling over some of last year’s highlights. One thing that went off was the brilliant Sunday afternoon Channel One takeover in The Bowl, so, not only will they be returning, but we have programmed a takeover every afternoon in the same spot. Now we’re going to keep the line ups under our hat, just for the moment, but be assured they’ll be very special. Perfect for the feet and the blanket, meeting your mates to make plans for the evening and recharging those festival batteries.

As you may have cottoned on, from what we’ve just said, we are rather partial to a takeover and while we are keeping the afternoons in The Bowl close to our chest, we want to let you know about some of the amazing artists and labels we’ll be showcasing.

There will be a celebration for the deeply missed Amp Fiddler, who passed at the end of 2023, featuring: Moodymann, Andres, Waajeed and Flo Real. A celebration of a true musical hero, very dear to so many people within our community.

Legendary label Hyperdub will be celebrating their 20th birthday, joined by: Loraine James, Kode 9 b2b Sherelle, Lee Gamble, Ikonika and Shannen SP.

We’ve laid out not one, but two jungle / DnB takeovers, the first one featuring: Calibre, LTJ Bukem, DJ Flight, Lenzman and LSB, and the second with: Rupture feat. Mantra, DJ Storm, Tim Reaper b2b Sully, b2b Coco Bryce b2b Dwarde and more.

Berlin based Tamo Sumo and Lakuti will be joined by a special guest for a Your Love takeover, and if that isn’t enough, you have Worldwide favourites Brighter Days with Izco and friends.

Our much-loved audiophile spot, Love Dancin’ will, of course, be back. Home once again to such favourites as the Sunday Dingwalls session, Mr Scruff and Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy. Make sure to stretch before hitting that tent.

The Lemon Lounge will be bringing its gorgeous soundsystem and the best of vibes, perfect for a regroup and some goodtime festival hugs.

If you were lucky enough to catch any of Galliano or Jimetta Rose & The Voices of Creation’s stripped down second sets at Brawnswood last year, then you’ll not want to miss what we have lined up for that space this summer. If you didn’t happen to catch any then make sure to hit the tent this year, intimate and sublime.

We’ll be updating you regularly as we get closer to the time so keep your eyes peeled for further announcements. Not long until the good times, we hope you are as excited as we are.
