Ahead of the launch of our Wellness programme over the next few months, area leader DemiMa  invites us into her world of wellness. Read below as she talks of her journey as a wellness practitioner, past years programming at We Out Here and what is on the horizon for this years offering…

Last year’s Wellness programme was elevated by the beautiful natural landscape positioned amidst the trees, alongside the peaceful lake. Practising yoga with swans passing by and birdsong accompanying the early morning sound baths was a truly magical experience. It was wonderful to have so many kindred spirits come and enjoy it with us.

I loved the diversity of practitioners and various creative expressions of wellbeing – from Nature Walks and Tea Making Workshops to Harp Therapy. I received the feedback on the wellness sessions as being joyful, soul lifting and a holistic detox from city life. It feels great to know that the safe space that Temitayo and I designed to feel tranquil by including plants, cosy bean bags, and essential oils, puts visitors’ minds at ease when they step into the Wellness Tent.

This year’s approach is to expand representation to include local and diverse practitioners within the programming. Historically, Wellbeing has been exclusive and accessible to the privileged in Western society. The emphasis on the programming in 2024 is to break boundaries and celebrate practitioners from all walks of life, who have devoted themselves to studying the healing arts and have something powerful to share.

Whether you’re into high energy activity, or you’re in need of deep relaxation, we’ve got your healing needs covered!

From encouraging inner child play with hula hooping, lake swims for the water lovers, meditative indigo dying and nature drawing for the crafty crew, sound baths to deepen internal connection, site wide running, singing circles, plant knowledge, a mycelial ceremony, to various yoga practices – we aim to energise and regulate your nervous system.

I’m a Zulu Londoner raised in South Africa and South West London. Professionally, I am an electronic soul artist and I curate multi-sensorial experiences that integrate music, consciousness, wellness and the Diaspora.

Within the Wellbeing industry, I am passionate about diversifying Wellness – it is aligned with my soul purpose to contribute to making holistic healing accessible to all. At We Out Here my intention and hope is to present practices and healing tools that people can take away with them to share within their own communities.

As an alternative recording artist and a trained yogi, I was honoured to be asked by WOH to join the team to curate the Wellness Tent three years ago. Four days of Zen within a festival filled with music I love, I didn’t need much convincing!

For this year’s programming, I am including sessions that we haven’t had before at WOH such as Capoeira, Tai Chi, Feng shui meditation and Mythology Story Telling workshops designed to raise climate awareness. As we continue to awaken as a conscious community, it is an honour to offer soul nourishment to the We Out Here audience.

All Wellness sessions at We Out Here are free on a drop-in basis. Yoga mats, bolsters and creative materials are provided for early participants. Those interested in the natural dye workshops are encouraged to bring one small, light-coloured, pre washed item of clothing to dye. Please refer to the website for more info on individual sessions to be uploaded in the coming weeks.

More details of our  Wellness Programme will be announced during May and June. Expect the full timetable to be uploaded onto the WOOV app in July, so check it out and see you there!
