Mala

Mala, born Mark Lawrence, is a British DJ and electronic music producer. He is best known as one half of the dubstep duo Digital Mystikz, alongside Coki. Mala is a pioneer of the dubstep genre, known for his use of sub-bass frequencies and his incorporation of traditional dub elements. He has released a number of singles and albums throughout his career, starting with the 2006 single “Anti-War Dub,” released on the DMZ label.

In 2008, Digital Mystikz released their debut album “Return II Space,” which featured the tracks “Ancient Memories” and “Conference.” The duo also released a series of singles on their DMZ label, including “Education,” “Molten,” and “Eyez.” In 2012, Mala released his debut solo album, “Mala in Cuba,” which blended his dubstep sound with Cuban rhythms and instrumentation. The album featured the tracks “Cuba Electronic” and “Changuito.”

Mala has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Joe Ariwa and Gilles Peterson. In 2016, he released the single “Kotos,” which featured the Japanese musician AsociaciĆ³n Juvenil Puno. He has also remixed tracks by artists such as The Bug, Skream, and Emika.
