Queen Josey Rebelle is a DJ from London, described by Mixmag as “the genre-bending DJ dominating top-tier dancefloors worldwide” and by iconic style mag The Face as “a hero of the UK music scene”.
With accolades including BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of the Year in 2019, DJ Mag Best of British Award 2020 for Best Compilation, Best Radio Shows in London (Time Out) and regular appearances on annual “Best Of” lists, the London born-and-bred DJ seamlessly traverses genres with a fearless energy that evokes the spirit of her home city.
Josey was introduced to the decks at an early age, taught to DJ by her brother on his house, techno and hardcore collection when she was 13, but it was some years later that she graduated from bedroom DJ to the club, eventually earning her stripes as a resident at legendary London basement club Plastic People.
She has since graced the line-ups of clubs and festivals across the globe and has also held down an exclusive residency at London’s intimate Pickle Factory since 2018. Josey has recorded highly acclaimed mixes for BBC Radio 1, The Trilogy Tapes, Resident Advisor, The Face, The Fader, Discwoman and Fact Magazine. She appeared on the first official Boiler Room broadcast in 2010 and made the cover of DJ Mag in February 2020.
While her club sets mainly centre around house, techno and breakbeat sounds old and new, Josey demonstrates the full spectrum of her musical knowledge on her weekly Rinse FM show, described by Time Out as the “best way to spend a Sunday”. She has been on the station since 2011.
2020 marked the release of her first ever licensed compilation album, Josey in Space, released on Beats in Space Records and featuring a trove of exclusives and previously vinyl-only secret weapons taken from the depths of her cherished record collection. Josey in Space was crowned Best Compilation at the DJ Mag Best of British Awards 2020.
