Rohan Rakhit

London native Rohan Rakhit is a DJ, broadcaster, actor and one of the core team members
behind the Asian Underground crew Daytimers. From starting his music career in
Nottingham, DJing at parties whilst studying history and ethnomusicology to the present day,
Rohan’s sets are known for his cross-genre selections inspired by his fascination with music
from across the globe. From bringing people together on dancefllors, through community
work, educating people through talks and producing events to uplift the South Asian creative
scene – community is at the heart of everything he’s gone on to achieve.

Rohan has graced the airwaves of NTS, Rinse FM & Jazz FM ++, whilst holding residencies
on Worldwide FM and Balamii using these platforms to showcase his broad musical interest
as well as tell stories relating to the South Asian underground creative communities.

His appreciation for a wide spectrum of electronic music moving through House, Broken Beat, Funky, Breaks, Footwork, and Jungle, alongside his deep crates of Jazz, Soul, Afro-diasporic sounds and his interests as a purveyor of sounds from the South Asian diaspora has landed him shows at clubs and festivals across the country such as Glastonbury, Lost Village, We Out Here, El Dorado, Brainchild, Dialled In & Wigflex City Festival, as well as being showcased on the first all South Asian Boiler Room lineup curated
by Yung Singh where his mix was commended as one of the mixes of the year by Mixmag.

Garnering support from DJs and broadcasters such as Tim Garcia, Anu, Bradley Zero,
Nabihah Iqbal, Errol (Touching Bass), DJ MoCity, & MLE to name a few. In late 2022 Rohan was named as one of six Future Proof grant awardees by the legendary Rhythm Section label and recently became a resident at Social Records Society, a DJ-led vinyl collective of DJs, dancers and artists based in South East London.
