National Youth Jazz Exchange

 National Youth Jazz Exchange

Gracing the stage at this year’s We Out Here is NYJO’s very own Jazz Exchange (NYJX)! NYJX is a unique creative ensemble that brings together emerging talent from across the UK, who came together during the tumultuous 2020 to hone their craft by creating fresh, original material for an eclectic mix of venues - from small intimate gigs to large summer music festivals.

Made up of some of the UK’s most promising and talented young musicians and composers, each member brings a unique edge to the ensemble. NYJX’s performance at We Out Here will include a series of pieces composed by a variety of band-members, which were largely developed during, and influenced by, the nationwide lockdowns of 2020-21. Each piece highlights their unique approaches to composition and their ability to interpret, vibe and improvise to each other’s sound.
